I know some people still call it an auto accident, but it is a car crash or an automobile crash. Even the California Highway Patrol calls it a motor vehicle crash now. So I am going with the term crash.
Bankrate called me today to interview me on what you should do after a car crash. Rule #1 - check to make sure everyone is okay. If everyone is okay, move your cars out of the street. Then exchange information, take some pictures, including of the other car's license plate, and go home.
Rule #2 - don't trust an insurance company. The more the insurance company ads make it sound like they are there to help you, the less you should trust them. Insurance companies are not your friends. And any adjuster who comes across like a friend really needs to be watched. They pay out as little as they can and try to make a profit. Remember that.
If you have been in a car crash, please contact an attorney to find out your rights.
